Task 5 - Understanding the techniques of music videos.

When making this video i used four different styles of shot, long shot, close up, high shots and then a left and right shot from each side of the casts faces to make it look like they were singing to one another. Our group chose these shots after we realised that they worked well when making the music video. We realised that these were the best angles to use to make it look like a proper music video. We had to take different shots at least twice shots each because we needed to find out what shot would look the best and what shot we should use when we were putting the clips together. When I was filming a needed to make sure that the two actresses knew what they were doing so I told them to make it took like they were in love. We made the video look more realistic by making sure that the two actresses were actually singing, this made the word synchronized with the singing by the actresses. I also made sure that I told the two actresses to make it look like they were more in love, this made it look more realistic because they seemed more together in the video. I made sure that when filming the each different shots that the camera didn't move unless I was the person that moved it.

When I was editing this video I made sure that I used all of these different shots to make the mood of the video change throughout and to keep it interesting. I made sure that I used the two clips of the actresses singing to one another to make it look like the actresses were looking at one another. This made the atmosphere of the music video more interesting because it was edited like this but also it looked like they were singing to each other, which made it more realistic that the two actresses were in love. I used a high shot to make the music video more interesting, in the video I used this particular shot as a way of expressing the different feelings between the actresses. I made sure that when using this shot it didn't look strange in the video and that the whole video ran smoothly. Finally, I used longshots throughout the music video, this made the concept of the two actresses being in love more realistic as in the video you were able to see the faces and the way the were acting towards each other clearer.

I have used these techniques well as I needed to make sure that everything was in sync with the music. I had to make sure that all of the music was in time with the singing so I made makers on the lines of my music to make sure that the singing in the video and the actual music matched. I made it look like they sung the song themselves. I made sure that when I was editing to the beat the shots changed when the music changed. If there was a lower bit of music then I would take advantage of that and change the shot along with the music. When the mans voice appeared I made sure to look at the person that was meant to be singing that part of the song more, and when the chorus hit I made sure to use the long shot because both of the actresses were singing in that particular bit. When a new line was sung I would change the video to make it adapt with the music, this made it look like the video was meant to match with the music as it changed. To make the video more successful I tried to make the actresses seem more interested with one another and I told them to act like they were in love with each other, some of the actions that they used signified that this was true. There could have been a range of more shots used in this clip to make it look more successful. If I had the chance to do this again I would use a low shot to make the actresses look more interested in each other, and hopefully it would make them look like they should have been together. To make the video look even more realistic I would have made sure that both the actresses were focused on one another, and on the music but that they had more focus of the video as well.
